This is a dose reference, not medical advice. Follow your prescription and the instructions on your pen.

Quick answer
On the standard Ozempic pens (the 0.25/0.5 mg pen and the 1 mg pen), 0.25 mg is about 18 clicks, 0.5 mg is about 37 clicks, and 1 mg is about 74 clicks. Those two pens hold the same strength of semaglutide, so the clicks line up. The 2 mg pen is twice as concentrated, so its clicks are different. Whatever you count, the real dose is the number in the pen's window, not your click count.

Ozempic Click Chart by Dose

DoseClicks (standard pen)What the click isTypical week
0.25 mg~18 clicksone dial stepWeeks 1-4 (starter)
0.5 mg~37 clicksone dial stepWeeks 5-8
1.0 mg~74 clicksone dial stepWeek 9 onward

These clicks apply to the blue 1 mg pen and the 0.25/0.5 mg pen. Both carry semaglutide at the same concentration (1.34 mg/mL), so a click moves the same tiny amount of medicine on either one.

What a "click" actually is

The Ozempic pen is a dial pen. You twist the end to select your dose, and it clicks as it steps up. Each click is one small notch of that dial.

So "18 clicks" isn't a separate measurement. It's just how far the dial has traveled to reach the 0.25 mg mark. The pen counts it out for you in little steps, and the number lands in the dose window when you're there.

That's why people count. If you're stretching a pen, microdosing, or just double-checking you dialed right, the clicks give you a way to feel the dose instead of only reading it.

The 2 mg pen is the exception

Here's the part that trips people up. The 2 mg pen holds semaglutide at double the concentration of the other pens.

More medicine per click means the click count from the 0.25/0.5 and 1 mg pens does not carry over. If you switch to the 2 mg pen, throw out the old numbers and go by the dose window.

The dose window is the source of truth
Novo Nordisk's own instruction is to select your dose by the number in the window and confirm it there before you inject. Click counting is a cross-check people use, not the official method. If the window and your count disagree, trust the window.

Brand pen vs compounded semaglutide

If you're on brand Ozempic, you have a dial pen, and the chart above is your reference.

If you're on compounded semaglutide, you have a vial and an insulin syringe instead of a dial. There are no clicks. You measure in units on the syringe, and how many units equals your dose depends on the concentration your pharmacy mixed.

Same molecule, different product. Brand pens are FDA-approved and quality-controlled. Compounded vials are not FDA-approved, so the exact concentration depends on the source, which is exactly why the unit math changes vial to vial. If that's you, our GLP-1 dose calculator does the units for your specific concentration, and the compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide guide covers the rest.

How to track it without counting in your head

Counting clicks works until you lose track of which week you're on, whether you already took this week's dose, or how a dose change lined up with your side effects.

Regimen logs your dose, your pen, and how you're feeling on one timeline, so the pattern is there when you look for it instead of living in your Notes app. Set it up once and the reminder handles the rest. Track your Ozempic doses in Regimen.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many clicks is 0.25 mg of Ozempic?

About 18 clicks on the standard 0.25/0.5 mg pen. That's the starter dose most people run for the first four weeks before moving up.

How many clicks is 0.5 mg of Ozempic?

About 37 clicks on the standard pen. It's roughly double the 0.25 mg count because it's double the dose at the same concentration.

How many clicks is 1 mg of Ozempic?

About 74 clicks on the standard 1 mg pen. Same concentration as the lower pen, so the clicks scale up in line with the dose.

Why does the 2 mg Ozempic pen have different clicks?

Because it's twice as concentrated. Each click delivers more semaglutide, so the click counts from the other pens don't apply. Go by the dose window on the 2 mg pen.

Is counting Ozempic clicks safe?

Counting is fine as a cross-check, but it's not the official method. Select and confirm your dose in the pen's window. If your click count and the window disagree, the window wins.

What app tracks Ozempic doses?

Regimen tracks your dose, pen, and side effects on one timeline and reminds you when your weekly shot is due.
