KPV is the smallest of the popular peptides: three amino acids, lysine, proline and valine. People use it for gut, skin and general inflammation, and it shows up in blends like KLOW.
- What it is: A peptide of 3 amino acids, the tail end of alpha-MSH
- FDA status: Not approved; off the FDA’s compounding safety-risk list since 2026
- Sport: Not named on the 2026 WADA list
- Human studies: None: cells, mice and rabbits only
- What people take: 400-600 mcg a shot (Regimen users), 500 mcg most common
- Common vial: 10 mg, mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water
- Half-life: Not measured in any published study
What Is KPV Peptide?
KPV is the last three amino acids of alpha-MSH, a hormone made in the pituitary. Alpha-MSH calms inflammation, and KPV keeps that effect in a much smaller piece.
In lab studies, KPV gets into gut and immune cells through a transporter called PepT1, which the colon makes more of when it is inflamed. Inside the cell it dampens NF-kB, the switch that turns on inflammation genes. The FDA’s 2026 review says its exact targets are still unknown.
KPV Peptide Benefits: What the Research Shows
All of it is in cells and animals:
- Colitis in mice (2008): KPV given by mouth in drinking water reduced chemically induced colitis, and a second study saw faster recovery in two colitis models.
- Lower doses with nanoparticles (2010): packed into nanoparticles and given by mouth, KPV worked in mice at a 12,000-fold lower dose than plain KPV.
- Colitis-related cancer (2016): in mice, KPV prevented colitis-associated tumors, and it did nothing in mice without PepT1.
- Eye wounds (2006): KPV eye drops fully healed corneal wounds in rabbits, eight of eight corneas within 60 hours.
- Skin inflammation (1989): it reduced inflamed, swollen ears in mice.
No study has tested KPV in people, by any route.
KPV Dosage: How Much and How Often
There is no human dose. The mouse studies used KPV dissolved in drinking water or packed into nanoparticles, and those doses don’t convert to a shot.
What people take: most Regimen users on KPV inject 400 to 600 mcg a shot, and 500 mcg is the most common dose. 77% take it every day, and most of the rest take it on set days, often five a week. They split between morning and evening doses.
How to Reconstitute KPV (Units to Draw)
85% of Regimen users on KPV use a 10 mg vial, and most mix it with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water; 3 mL is next. KPV dosage chart, in units on a 100-unit (1 mL) insulin syringe:
| Dose | 10 mg + 2 mL | 10 mg + 3 mL |
|---|---|---|
| 400 mcg | 8 units | 12 units |
| 500 mcg | 10 units | 15 units |
| 600 mcg | 12 units | 18 units |
More water means more units for the same dose. For any other mix, use the peptide calculator.
KPV Oral vs Injection
Oral KPV has the better animal evidence. It reached the inflamed colon in mice through PepT1, both as plain KPV in water and in nanoparticles. On skin, it barely gets through in lab tests on human skin. The only form ever proposed to the FDA for compounding was a 0.1% cream or gel.
No study has tested injected KPV, though most Regimen users on KPV inject it.
KPV Side Effects
The FDA’s 2026 review found no human studies, no case reports and no reports in its adverse event database. It also found no animal toxicology studies, and it flagged that the risk of immune reactions to KPV is unknown. That doesn’t mean it causes problems. It means nobody has measured.
KPV vs BPC-157
They are often taken together: 41% of Regimen users on KPV also track BPC-157.
- KPV is 3 amino acids from alpha-MSH, taken up by gut and immune cells, and dampens inflammation signals.
- BPC-157 is 15 amino acids from a stomach protein, studied mostly for tissue healing; its targets haven’t been identified either. The BPC-157 guide has its dosing.
KPV also comes in blends: KLOW puts it with GHK-Cu, BPC-157 and TB-500 in one vial. See the KLOW guide and anti-inflammatory peptides.
How Long to Run KPV
Among Regimen users on KPV, 25% run it in cycles, and the most common is 8 weeks on and 4 weeks off. The rest take it without a set break. The peptide cycling guide covers how people cycle peptides in general.
Where to Inject KPV
It goes under the skin. Among Regimen users on KPV, 38% inject in the belly, 19% in the love handles, 17% in the thigh, 13% in the upper arm and 11% in the glute. The peptide injection sites guide shows each spot.
Is KPV Legal?
KPV is not approved anywhere, and US pharmacies can’t legally compound it yet. In May 2026, FDA staff recommended against adding it to the list of substances pharmacies may compound; in July, the FDA’s compounding advisory committee reportedly voted in favor, but the FDA hasn’t decided. It came off the FDA’s compounding safety-risk list (Category 2) in 2026 after its nomination was withdrawn. WADA doesn’t name KPV, but its S0 section bans any substance with no approval for human use.
Track KPV With Regimen
96% of Regimen users on KPV also track another compound, most often retatrutide (76%), GHK-Cu (69%) and MOTS-c (53%). Regimen, a peptide tracker, logs KPV on its own schedule, and if you take it inside a blend like KLOW, it shows what’s in the blend.

Frequently asked questions
Does KPV peptide really work?
In animals, yes: it eased colitis in mice and healed eye wounds in rabbits. Whether it works in people is unknown, because no human study has been published and no human trial is registered.
Is KPV peptide safe to take?
There is no human safety data. The FDA found no human studies, no case reports and no adverse event reports for KPV, and it flagged unknown immune and quality risks for peptides like it.
How often do you inject KPV?
There is no tested schedule. Among Regimen users on KPV, 77% take it every day, most often about 500 mcg a shot.
Should you take KPV peptide morning or night?
No study has looked at timing. Regimen users on KPV split between morning and evening doses.
Do you need to cycle off KPV?
Among Regimen users on KPV, 25% run it in cycles, most often 8 weeks on and 4 weeks off; the rest take it without a set break. No study has tested cycling it.
Who should not take KPV peptide?
With no human studies, there is no tested list. Tested athletes should avoid it: WADA bans substances with no approval for human use.
