HGH Dosage Calculator (IU, mg & Units)

Convert your HGH between IU and mg and see the exact units to draw on your insulin syringe, based on how you reconstituted the vial.

Updated June 2026

HGH vials are usually labeled in IU. Common sizes: 10 IU, 12 IU, 30 IU.

Standard somatropin is ~3 IU/mg. Check your product label.

Draw 20.0 units (0.200 mL) for your 2 IU dose.

That's 2.00 IU = 0.667 mg at 3 IU/mg.

Concentration: 10.00 IU/mL. Doses per vial: 5.0.

Units measure volume on the syringe, not the amount of HGH. The same dose is a different number of units at a different concentration, so always set your vial size and water first.

IU and mg are two ways of saying the same thing

HGH gets labeled two ways and it trips people up. Milligrams measure the actual amount; IU (international units) measure its activity. For standard somatropin they're linked at about 3 IU per mg, so a 1 mg dose is roughly 3 IU. Your vial might be printed in either, which is why the calculator lets you enter and read both.

Why your units depend on how you mixed it

Just like any reconstituted vial, the units you draw come from your concentration, not the dose alone. A 10 IU vial in 1 mL of bacteriostatic water is 10 IU per mL, so a 2 IU dose is 0.2 mL, which is 20 units on a U-100 syringe. Use more or less water and every number changes. Set your mix once and the units follow.

Save your vial mix so the units ride with every dose. Log your HGH in Regimen and your draw amount stays consistent across the vial.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many IU is 1 mg of HGH?

For standard somatropin, about 3 IU per mg, so 1 mg is roughly 3 IU. Some products differ, so check your label — you can set the IU/mg in the calculator.

How do you convert HGH IU to units on a syringe?

Work out your concentration (vial IU divided by mL of water), divide your dose by that to get the volume in mL, then multiply by your syringe factor (100 for U-100). The calculator does all three steps.

How many units is 2 IU of HGH?

It depends on your mix. A 10 IU vial in 1 mL of bacteriostatic water is 10 IU/mL, so 2 IU is 0.2 mL, which is 20 units on a U-100 syringe. Enter your own vial and water above.

How much bacteriostatic water do you add to an HGH vial?

Commonly 1 to 2 mL for a 10 IU vial. More water makes each dose more units (easier to measure); less makes fewer. Pick what gives clean numbers and stay consistent.

Does this recommend an HGH dose?

No. It converts between IU, mg, mL, and syringe units for a dose you've chosen. It doesn't recommend a dose, and HGH (somatropin) is a controlled medication, so follow your provider and your product label.

How to use this calculator

1

Enter your vial size

HGH vials are usually labeled in IU. Common sizes are 10 IU, 12 IU, and 30 IU. Toggle to mg if your label uses milligrams.

2

Enter the BAC water you added

Commonly 1 to 2 mL. Whatever you actually mixed in.

3

Enter your dose in IU or mg

Use the dose your provider or product label specifies.

4

Read units and mL

The calculator returns the exact units to draw on a U-100, U-50, or U-40 syringe, plus the concentration, mg equivalent, and doses per vial.

Stop re-deriving your HGH units

Regimen saves your vial mix and shows the exact units to draw on every HGH dose log.
