mL to units questions

How many units is 0.5 mL?
On a U-100 syringe, 0.5 mL is 50 units, half the barrel. On a U-50 it is 25 units and on a U-40 it is 20 units. The mL does not change; only the marks on the syringe do.

How many units is 1 mL?
On a U-100 syringe, 1 mL is 100 units, the full barrel. On a U-50 it is 50 units and on a U-40 it is 40 units. That is what the U number means: units per mL.

How do you convert mL to units?
Multiply the mL by the syringe factor: 100 for U-100, 50 for U-50, 40 for U-40. 0.3 mL on a U-100 is 30 units. 0.3 mL on a U-40 is 12 units. No concentration needed for this step.

How many units is 0.25 mL?
On a U-100 syringe, 0.25 mL is 25 units, a quarter of the barrel. On a U-50 it is 12.5 units and on a U-40 it is 10 units.

How many units is 0.1 mL?
On a U-100 syringe, 0.1 mL is 10 units. On a U-50 it is 5 units and on a U-40 it is 4 units. 0.1 mL is a common draw for a 0.25 mg semaglutide start at 2.5 mg/mL.

How many units is 0.2 mL?
On a U-100 syringe, 0.2 mL is 20 units. On a U-50 it is 10 units and on a U-40 it is 8 units.

How many units is 0.75 mL?
On a U-100 syringe, 0.75 mL is 75 units. On a U-50 it is 37.5 units and on a U-40 it is 30 units. A 0.5 mL insulin syringe cannot hold 0.75 mL, so this needs a 1 mL syringe.

Do I need my concentration to convert mL to units?
No. mL to units is pure syringe scale and only depends on which syringe you are holding. You need the concentration only if you also want to know how many mg that volume contains, which the optional field gives you.

My prescription says mL but my syringe shows units. Which do I follow?
They are the same thing on different scales. Convert the mL to units for your syringe type and draw to that mark. 0.4 mL on a U-100 is the 40 mark. If your syringe is marked in both, the mL and unit marks line up exactly.

Is 1 mL the same as 1 cc?
Yes. 1 mL and 1 cc are the same volume. A 1 cc insulin syringe is a 1 mL syringe, so 1 cc is 100 units on a U-100 scale.

How many mg is 0.5 mL?
It depends on your concentration. At 2.5 mg/mL, 0.5 mL holds 1.25 mg. At 5 mg/mL it holds 2.5 mg. Enter your concentration above and the calculator shows the mg alongside the units.
